Barney Stinson has a habit of thinking the exact opposite or top complex in certain situations, which as he states is "obvious thinking".

In The Stinsons, it is revealed that Barney really connects with the bad guys in the movies, such as Johnny (William Zabka) in The Karate Kid, Voldemort in Harry Potter, and Terminator in The Terminator.
