Crossword is a word puzzle that comes with newspaper. Ted Mosby is known for liking crosswords.

History[]

In Girls Versus Suits, Ted mentions that Cindy also loves doing crosswords.
In Rabbit or Duck, Ted claims that Ulee's Gold often appears in crosswords "because of its vowels", a question asked earlier by Don Frank.
In Robots Versus Wrestlers, Ted confirms that Ulee's Gold does appear often "because of all the vowels" after meeting Will Shortz, editor of The New York Times crossword puzzle.
In Natural History, a news article about Goliath National Bank destroying The Arcadian is published right above the crossword, on the Saturday which is also "Crossword Day", something that even Ted's kids know of.
In Splitsville, Nick is doing a crossword and asks The Gang for a 4-letter word for "cut", not knowing the answer is "nick".
In The Fortress, Barney and Robin can be seen doing a crossword in bed together. They tried the word "adoption", but that doesn't work with 27 down.
In Coming Back, Ted can be seen doing a crossword and being all "showboaty" about it before James joins him at the "single's table".
