Sophie goes to Robert's country house for the weekend. The gang celebrates Lost & Found Box Day at Pemberton's.
Recap[]
During a game where Sid lets the group choose an item each from his bar's lost and found box, Valentina retrieves a self-help book that Jesse left there. As Jesse demands it back, they end up competing for the book. Valentina wins and discovers a receipt in the book on which Jesse recently wrote a love song for Sophie. She confronts him and learns that he still has feelings for Sophie but doesn't want to do anything rash to mess things up again. Valentina agrees to keep the secret, knowing Jesse's feelings for her best friend and still not being over her own breakup with Charlie.
On the flight to LA to visit Hannah, Sid bonds with a woman named Taylor over their shared struggles of long-distance relationships. Meanwhile, Sophie and Robert travel to his upstate house for a romantic weekend. However, things take a turn when Robert recalls hearing a song at Lollapalooza in 1991, the same year Sophie's mother Lori met her father there. Sophie begins to panic that Robert could be her father and takes a photo of him with Lori. She drives away in a panic and crashes her car into Barney Stinson's car. Barney, a former womanizer-turned-family man, offers to let her off the hook for damages if she tells him what's wrong. They bond over shared abandonment issues during their childhoods.
Sophie's mother texts her, confirming that Robert is not her father. Sophie and Robert agree to break up due to their age difference and his history with Lori. Sophie decides to focus on tracking down her father.

Notes and Trivia[]
Other Notes[]
- Sophie mentions that she was imagining her dad looking like Bryan Cranston (of Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking Bad fame).
- Cranston actually appeared in the original show in-between the airings of those two shows as Hammond Druthers, Ted's boss.
- Barney mentions that he has once pretended to be Justin Hemsworth (a non-existent Hemsworth brother). That scene was never in the original show, but given that Barney had done numerous plays in his life, it can be assumed that it happened off-screen.
- However, a joke about a fourth non-existent brother was used in a a show The Good Place but the brother's name was Larry.
- Robert says that he made 'homemade pigs in a blanket', and holds up a plate of what looks like sausage rolls. Contrary to popular belief, 'pigs in a blanket' (sausage in pastry) is not synonymous with 'pigs in blankets' (sausage in bacon) and he actually is holding a plate of pigs in a blanket.
