Darren is a member of the wedding band at Barney and Robin's wedding. The Mother says that he enjoys turning friends against each other, detailing him as a high maintenance sociopath. He stirs up trouble between the gang, causing fights and major secrets to be revealed.
The Mother hired him in her band to take over some of her vocals, but he gradually moved himself to the position of lead singer and it later escalated to the point that he kicked her out of the band. Eventually, while breaking up another friendship, he causes Ted Mosby to drop a bottle of expensive scotch. Ted knocks him out with a single punch, and out of frustration with the Mother laughing at him, he declared that he would quit the band and rejoin 'The New Guns N' Roses'.

- His van is stolen in a fit of Aldrin Justice by the Mother, who dislikes him. It is returned when the Mother comes back to the Farhampton Inn after being persuaded by Marshall to confront Darren.
- Darren's sob stories that he uses to stir up trouble include references to Bambi, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo.
- It is unknown if he and the Mother keep in contact after he quits the band, although it is very unlikely.
- He is similar to Barney Stinson in this series.
