Recap[]

Future Sophie advises her son about the importance of coming to the aid of one's best friend when needed.

In a flashback, Sophie briefs her friends on Valentina's upcoming engagement party and their mission to sabotage the engagement. She even prepares a presentation to emphasize the seriousness of the task. When Jesse suggests that Val should break up with Swish like a normal person, Sophie reveals that she has attempted to do so, but whenever she looks at Swish, she sees an adorable puppy and finds it impossible to do it.

Now the plan shifts to making Swish initiate the breakup. Ellen will portray the bitter divorcee, while Sid and Hannah, who haven't spent much time together recently, will act as an unhappy married couple. When Sophie asks Charlie to remind Swish of the joys of casual sex, he explains that he can't because he is bringing Julia as his date to the party. Ellen's reaction to Julia's name sparks curiosity, but the reason remains unknown. Jesse is assigned the task instead. Meanwhile, Sophie plans to play the "old person" card to highlight the age difference between Swish and Val.

The engagement party begins, and Val informs Sophie that she told Swish her parents are in India because he wanted to meet them and receive their blessings. When Swish arrives, Sophie exaggerates her back pain to gain sympathy. However, Swish remains unfazed and expresses his admiration for older women.

Jesse tries to discuss casual sex with Swish but fails miserably, resulting in Sophie having to intervene. Next, it's Ellen's turn to lament her early marriage, but Swish turns the situation around by appreciating how Ellen has built a fulfilling life since her divorce. He manages to win everyone over, even leading Ellen to feel like his mother. This gives Sophie an idea.

Meanwhile, Sid and Hannah practice their pretend fight, but it escalates into a real argument when Hannah's phone notification reveals her search for houses in Los Angeles. Sid is annoyed since they had always planned to settle in New York, and they argue about it.

Charlie and Julia arrive, but they receive a cold reception from Ellen. Val complains to Sophie that nothing seems to be working. Sophie reveals her plan to Val, involving her parents, but asks her not to get angry. Juan and Raquel, Val's parents, enter the bar, and Sophie expects that if they refuse to give their blessing to Swish, he will back down. Swish approaches them, and Sophie sends the three of them away. Jesse asks Charlie about Ellen's strange behavior. Charlie confesses that one night, while Julia stayed over at their apartment, he mistakenly entered the kitchen and confused Ellen for Julia, inadvertently revealing their bedroom roleplay.

As Val's parents express their concerns to Swish, he presents them with a five-year financial plan and reaffirms his unwavering devotion to Val. Naturally, Val's parents change their minds and congratulate him, leaving Sophie and Val feeling defeated. Later, Val's parents let the girls know that Swish is better than any of Val's previous partners. Sophie argues with them, but Val ultimately agrees to marry him.

Jesse attempts to resolve the issue between Ellen and Charlie by recounting a similar incident involving him and Sid, which created discomfort and awkwardness between them. However, they managed to overcome it by engaging in various activities from a book called "Joe Pesci's 101 New York Musts". Charlie and Ellen decide to engage in the activities from the book. Julia, feeling ignored by Charlie throughout the night, decides to leave him for good.

Sophie asks Val about her true feelings for Swish. Val admits that while she isn't in love with him, she does care for him deeply and acknowledges that he is a genuinely nice person. She questions whether Charlie was truly meant to be her person.

Sid finds Val's parents outside the bar, where they have been put on a "time-out" by Sophie. Sid seeks their advice regarding his relationship, and they explain that sometimes there is no right answer, and one must choose between two options. Next, Sid approaches Hannah and shows her a video from the night of their engagement. The video shows their friends at Sid's apartment, where Sid explains that Hannah was called to the hospital. He reassures her in the video, stating that they can overcome any challenges together. After stopping the video, Sid tells Hannah that he is now open to the idea of moving to Los Angeles.

After the couple enters the bar, Sophie finds Sid's tab on the counter. She shows Val a clip from the same video, featuring her and Charlie expressing their love and well wishes to Sid and Hannah. Sophie reminds Val that she has experienced genuine love before. Val becomes emotional but decides to end her relationship with Swish and wait for true love.

Older Sophie says that Val did break up with Swish, and he leaves the bar disheartened. She mentioned that Swish got married in the following weeks anyway.

Ellen and Charlie return from their tour of New York City, finally able to look each other in the eye. Sid asks Jesse why the book seems familiar, and they realize that they need to go to Times Square immediately.
