The Empire State Building is New York's most famous skyscraper.

At 443m tall, it was once the tallest building of the world, maintaining the record for more than 40 years, losing the title when the World Trade Center's North Tower was completed in 1972.

Construction of the building began on March 17 1929, St. Patrick's Day, and finished two years later, with the building opening to the public on May 1, 1931.

In 2007, the gang went to visit the building with Robin's sister, Katie. On the first day, they only got to the lobby, but they eventually went to the top the next day. (First Time In New York)

Ted built a scale model of the Empire State Building. (Zoo or False)

PJ lied to Ted and said he was on top of the Empire State Building. Ted quickly realized that the call came from his own apartment and discovered PJ was actually on top of Robin. (Mosbius Designs)

The "He's not coming" play from The Playbook involves the Empire State Building's observation deck. It consists of going up to anxious looking women and telling them that their planned rendezvous with somebody special isn't happening because they've been stood up in the hopes that the woman will want some solace from the person informing them.
