Future Barney meets Sophie in 2023
Future Barney is Barney Stinson seen in all events past his wedding day. Surprisingly, Barney is not seen much in the future, however he does make a few appearances.
Storyline[]
In 2023, Sophie Tompkins crashes into his car and he allows her not to pay for the damage if her story of meeting and dating Robert is juicy enough. They share a moment where Sophie tells him about how she is finding for her father, and Barney shares with her some little things about his friends and daughter. It also turns out that Barney is undergoing some special therapy to treat women more respectfully, which includes wearing a electroshock collar that is programed with 10,000 problematic words and phrases.

- In all of Future Barney's appearances, he looks the same age, unlike Future Ted, Future Lily, & Future Marshall.
- Barney has yet to quit smoking, first mentioned in Last Cigarette Ever. According to Future Ted, Barney will quit in March 2017.
- He and Robin get divorced in 2016.
- His daughter, Ellie Stinson, is born in 2020.
- The farthest he was seen was in 2023 but that is only in How I Met Your Father, his farthest How I Met Your Mother appearance was 2021.
- Barney is the only member of The Gang not to be seen in the year 2030.
