Guns N' Roses, often abbreviated as GNR, is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1985. When they signed to Geffen Records in 1986, the band comprised vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. The current lineup consists of Rose, Slash, McKagan, guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese.
In How I Met Your Mother, Guns N' Roses' are frequent mentioned and Barney Stinson is known to be a huge fan of the band, showing his love for the 80s rock music.

- In Say Cheese, Barney reveals his anger over an incident happened on his birthday at MacLaren's Pub, when Slash from Guns N' Roses' agreed for a picture with the gang, but Ted's random skank blocked his face and only his hairs at the top are seen. It is also noted that he was grabbing Robin's and Lily's asses.
- In Architect of Destruction, when Barney reveals his one rule ""New is Always Better", Ted asks which one of Paradise City and "Chinese Democracy" does he like more (implying Chinese Democracy is relatively new and not good).
