Everyone heads to Pemberton's to weather out the hurricane.
Recap[]
After a power outage at the apartment, the group heads to the bar, only to find that the power is out there as well. Hannah surprises Sid early, but Ellen uncovers that she kissed another man in Los Angeles and struggles to keep it a secret.
Meanwhile, Jesse worries about Parker, Valentina supports Charlie who has a fear of storms, and Drew attempts to make a move on Sophie. Realizing Sophie's feelings for Jesse, he apologizes and gives her the song Jesse wrote for her before leaving. Jesse and Sophie later argue about their relationship, leading Jesse to go to Parker's apartment.
When Hannah confesses her actions, Sid forgives her but questions the nature of their relationship. Charlie, no longer afraid of storms, tells Valentina that despite their differences, he wouldn't change anything about their relationship.
Inspired by this, Valentina confronts Sophie about her feelings for Jesse, prompting Sophie to seek him out. Meanwhile, Sophie meet Jesse at outside of the bar after his visit to Parker's apartment, and they share a kiss before returning to the bar. They arrive to find Sid upset over Hannah, and they all try to comfort him, while Valentina and Drew end up hooking up.
In the present, Sophie reveals to her son that Charlie and Valentina eventually had a son of their own named Alex.
Continuity[]
- Future Sophie tells her son about her relationship with Jesse and their next reunion, but although she says it was perfect, there was no direct answer whether he will be the Father.
- The whole situation where Sophie once again returns to the story about Jesse is very similar to how, in the original series, the whole story of Future Ted mostly boiled down to the fact that he was in love with Robin and wanted to get approval from his children to be with her.
- Sophie gets back together with Jesse, and Sid breaks up with Hannah and friends console him. The whole plot is similar to the first season finale of the original series, where Ted got back together with Robin, and Marshall breaks up with Lily and Ted comforted him.
- Both episodes also feature a strong storm and hurricane.
- Since the show got cancelled and left in a cliffhanger who is Sophie’s future husband.
Future References (Contains Spoilers)[]
- Throughout the series, it was hinted several times that young Sophie's drinking would result in an addiction to drinking in her future. She denied such a possibility in Family Business, however, in the current episode she finally admitted that she really likes to drink.
- Valentina and Drew's hookup at the end "was a complete disaster" according to Sophie but it wasn't for then getting back together Val and Charlie wouldn't end up together and have a son named Alex.
