Valentina helps Sophie with an unexpected career opportunity. Jesse and Sid struggle with procrastination. Charlie seeks out a nasty Yelp reviewer.

In 2050 Future Sophie tells her son about her first life-changing opportunity as a photographer.
Sophie’s big career opportunity comes at the hands of Naomi Reisberg, a gallery owner. Upon meeting Naomi, Sophie claimed she sent her portfolio to the former but she claimed she saw it. She asks Sophie to take photgraphs of her daughter's bar miztvah and in exchange, Naomi will look into Sophie's portfolio.
To cover the event, Sophie needs an assistant, so she asks Valentina. Charlie will cover the bar, because Jesse and Sid are doing a "classic pounding", which apparently just means they lock themselves in the apartment and get a lot of work done where Sid must get his wedding guest list done while Jesse writes his first song as a solo artist. Sophie gives him one of her lucky bangles, which she wore earlier when seeing Naomi, to bring him good luck, with the promise that if he wins a Grammy, he has to thank her first in her speech.
Later, as they’re "pounding", Jesse and Sid are visited by pigeons and struggle to get them to leave. They ask Google, at which point they get distracted by a bird makeup video, leading to them putting the bird makeup on their faces. As a result, more birds come inside and their attempt to kick them out of their apartment only leads to them trapped in the fire escape.
At Pemberton's, Charlie is obsessing about a one-star Yelp review, while Valentina and Sophie get to the bat mitzvah, where they find that Naomi’s daughter, Rivka, is a known Instagram user, and refuses to pose for “amateurs.” Charlie at least has an idea of who could have left the review.
After his attempt to force a customer he has problems with to out herself as the one behind the Yelp review, Charlie soon finds out the person who left the review was a drunk Ellen, upset at Charlie having a job and a purpose, while she has neither. Meanwhile, Sophie and Valentina are at the bat mitzvah and the teenagers stole Valentina’s drugs and use them.
Sophie calls out Valentina for being more interested in building her brand than helping Sophie, which leads Valentina to confess her job isn't everything she said it was. She just makes it sound better than it is, because she wanted to not have to tell Sophie that she is unhappy at her job. But as Sophie convinces her to never lie as she won't and hug, Valentina realizes she actually has the drugs – the kids stole her ibuprofen and probiotics, creating a placebo effect. Sophie and Valentina use this opportunity to get Rivka and her friends to pose for their photos by blackmailing them (should they refuse, Sophie and Valentina will tell Naomi that Rivka took their drugs which will cause Naomi to bar Rivka from Instagram).
On the fire escape, Sid and Jesse talk about how neither are getting anywhere with the goals they set out to resolve while "pounding". Sid admits that he is struggling with the fact that so many of the people he loves are in India, so making his wedding guest list feels impossible. Jesse, meanwhile, admits that he is indeed scared he’ll never write anything good without Meredith. They don’t reach any conclusion because animal control shows up.
Charlie apologizes to Ellen for rubbing his new job in her face, and Sophie impresses Naomi enough that Naomi promises to consider one of her pictures. Except Sophie has no idea what picture she’s going to send – and she’s not the only one struggling with inspiration. So is Jesse - until he finds Sophie’s bracelet.
