Siddhartha "Sid" is a main character in the Hulu series, How I Met Your Father. He is portrayed by Suraj Sharma.
Background[]
Sid is the owner of Pemberton's, a bar, where he employs his friend Charlie. He plays the optimist to his best friend and roommate Jesse's cynicism. Sid and Jesse live in Ted, Marshall, and Lily's old Apartment; they acquired the place after Marshall and Lily posted it on the Wesleyan University Alumni Group.
He is in a long-distance relationship with his wife, Hannah, who works as a resident surgeon in Los Angeles. They met in medical school. In the Pilot, Sid surprised Hannah with a proposal at Pemberton's after luring her there with the promise of Beyoncé tickets. After a number of struggles with their long-distance relationship, Sid and Hannah spontaneously got married at the courthouse in Timing is Everything.
Sid grew up in India, and his family immigrated to New York City when he was a child. His father wanted him to be a doctor, which led Sid to attend medical school. Sid realized that he wasn't meant to be a doctor because blood and surgery made him uneasy. He quit medical school and purchased Pemberton's on a whim after its previous owner, Archie, passed away.
Sid and Jesse have a brief falling out after Sid believes Meredith doesn't truly love Jesse. This upsets Jesse but Sid, after a near-death experience eating a walnut, realizes how much Jesse means to him and they made up.
Sid continues his long distance relationship with his partner, Hannah, however he is upset when he finds out she's been looking at houses in Los Angeles. After a big talk, Sid tells Hannah that he is now open to the idea of moving to Los Angeles. Eventually, however, Hannah changes her mind and opens up to New York City.
At the end of Season 2, Hannah admits to Sid that she kissed her co-worker Eli. Sid forgives her, but wonders if what happened was a one-time thing.
