While helping Jesse take photos for his new Tinder profile, Sophie feels sparks with someone unexpected. Valentina helps Sid with his long distance relationship. Ellen and Charlie go apartment hunting.

In 2050, Future Sophie explains that this episode is the story of the time she helped someone fix their dating problems through the magic of photography. When her son tries to point out that the story has gotten away from her, Sophie responds that she gave birth to him, he can give her one night to listen.
Back in 2022, the person Sophie helps is Jesse. He wants to join Tinder, but all of his photos are terrible. Sophie, however, points out she’s gone out on 87 Tinder dates this year and she hasn’t given up on finding someone- therefore Jesse can’t give up before he even starts. Sophie is going to help him create the perfect profile – and she’s also going to take the greatest profile picture. Except it’s not as easy as she thought.
Meanwhile, Charlie cannot find an apartment. Since Ellen is also looking for one, Sophie suggests she and Charlie can be roommates. But Ellen doesn’t want a roommate. Charlie reacts to this about as well as he reacts to anything, which is to say not that well. It all gets worse when he finds out that it’s not that Ellen doesn’t want a roommate, she doesn’t want him as her roommate.
Back at Pemberton's, Sid gets a package from his fiancée. In order to spice their long-distance relationship up, Hannah sends him a sex toy. Except Sid doesn’t like sex toys or even toys in general. Valentina is determined to help him. She talks to him about angles needed to make the usage of the sex toy worthwhile and convinces him to give it a try.
Jesse and Sophie are still trying to take pictures, and it’s not going well. At least not till Jesse stops posing and starts just talking to one of his students. That, however, is when the Vice Principal for the school he works for, Drew, appears, and he and Sophie agree about Jesse’s awkwardness.
Later, Charlie outbids Ellen for the apartment she wants, and Sophie and Jesse have moved onto going to real bars so he can meet people. Sophie turns out to be a decent wingman as Jesse hits it up with a girl. Meanwhile, Sid and Hannah are trying out their toys – but instead they end up having a conversation about how much long-distance sucks.
At the bar, Sophie realizes that the girl that had seemingly hit it off with Jesse is only humoring him so that she can tell her friends that "Proposal Fail Guy" is hitting on her. She confronts her, and ends up spiraling about how she, herself, doesn’t really believe love is out there anymore until Jesse himself appears. The girl wants nothing to do with Jesse after that outburst.
Sid confides in Valentina about how much he misses Hannah, while Jesse and Sophie have a heart-to-heart in the subway. Sophie confides in Jesse about her childhood, about being alone with her mother and bouncing around from the house of one boyfriend to the next one, all while being the one taking care of her mother, adding that she has always been the "Fixer". Jesse cheers her up by making her repeat the phrase she’d been trying to get him to repeat all day. “Today is the first chapter of my next great love story".
Charlie and Ellen end up meeting at Pemberton’s because things didn’t exactly work out for Charlie and the apartment he wanted - he got robbed. Ellen got her identity stolen by a man she met in Craiglist and whom she formed a partnership with in order to get an apartment. They decide that they are better off living together.
Sid goes to Hannah's later on. Sophie realizes she did get some good shots of Jesse in the end. She sends him the best one, for when he’s ready to try. He sends then sends her Drew's contact information and when Sophie contacts, Drew tells her that they met on the night Sid proposed to Hannah.

- Jesse is doing the poses from The Karate Kid, which was frequently mentioned on How I Met Your Mother. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka from the film guest starred as themselves in the eighth and ninth seasons.
- Drew is shown to have been present during Sid and Hannah's engagement in Pilot (How I Met Your Father), meaning that Sophie met him on that day so he's also the potential father in addition to Jesse, Sid, Ian and Charlie.
