Sophie encounters an obstacle with a new beau. Ellen uses her new job insurance to see a therapist. Jesse gives Valentina a hand at work while Sid and Charlie try to sell terrible wine.

Sophie goes on a date with Oscar, but she becomes less sure about him after finding out that he keeps his late mother’s ashes in a necklace that he wears regularly. She isn’t sure how to handle the situation so she asks Ellen to talk to her therapist about it, pretending that she herself is in that situation instead of Sophie. Ellen agrees and reassures Sophie that everything will be fine.
Sophie decides to hook up with Oscar. In bed, she tells him he doesn’t need the necklace to remember his late mother. He agrees and takes it off. They hook up again but this time something is off. Sophie thinks taking the necklace off might’ve affected his performance so she asks him to put it back on. This confuses and upsets him. He breaks up with her, explaining that her sexual expectations are too much.
Meanwhile, Jesse needs a new job. Valentina hires him as her assistant. However, she is condescending to him at work and doesn’t treat him well. He’s upset about this. He and Valentina ask Ellen to talk to her therapist for them about this situation. Ellen agrees but the therapist is overwhelmed with Ellen’s friends’ issues and decides to fire her as a client. This inspires Sophie, Jesse, and Valentina to get involved and beg the therapist to take Ellen back as a client.
Later, Valentina decides to take a stand against her own boss for treating her poorly as well. She gets promoted.
Jesse decides to go back to teaching music.
Sid returns from a trip to realize that Charlie bought several cases of wine that had gone bad. They try to sell it to someone else and even pretend that Judge Judy endorsed the wine. This causes Judy herself to show up and take the wine for herself.
