Vomit free since '93 is a phrase used by Ted Mosby to tell people that he has not puked since 1993, constituting a 13 year streak when it was first mentioned. However, over the course of the series, his streak is broken. It is an homage a 1993 episode of Seinfeld, in which main character Jerry flaunts his own 13 year streak (having lasted since 1980).

Episodes[]

  • In The Pineapple Incident, Ted first tells that he has not puked since 1993 to Robin on a phone conversation. She says that she is impressive. Through some inconsistent reveals it is revealed that he might have puked on which he says "vomit free since '05 doesn't sound that good". It is then revealed that he did not vomit.
  • In Jenkins, Ted tells Robin that while playing the drinking game, he drank a lot and threw up over himself. Although he might have just saying this to prove a point because since Game Night, he would only vomit once, in the following episode.
  • In The Lighthouse, after carrying Cassie on his back up to the lighthouse, Ted pukes and Future Ted tells that he had only done that once before in his entire adult life, referencing the incident in Game Night.
